Walking Bill Boards, Newspaper Boys on Bikes, Car Salesmen, and Wildfires
Church growth has nothing to do with the size of your church building, or how many people it can hold by the time you’re done building on to the facility. This is because your church building is not your church. Your church is the congregation. Your church is the body of people who you worship Christ with. Your church is you! The people of Christ are the church, and building the church is what we should be doing.
Church growth can be difficult. But it can also be very easy as well. It all depends on how we as Christians view it. Do we make it difficult because we are afraid to say something that may offend someone? Maybe some of us are just too busy in our everyday lives to talk about Jesus. Well church growth is important. We as Christians should all be striving to build the church up. We should be out telling people about Jesus Christ. We should be like walking bills boards for Jesus or newspaper boys on bikes by chance. We need to be like a car salesman. A car salesman has a goal to sell a car a day. We should have a goal to tell at least one person a day about Jesus.
Now that we have heard about newspaper boys on bikes, car salesmen, and walking bill boards it’s time to look at history. If you haven’t read the history of the Allerton Christian Church maybe you should do so. I say this, because it shows us that the Allerton Christian Church was started in a very simple way and has since continued on. It tells us that the church was first started by simple “Word of Mouth.” Word of mouth is so simple, but so uncommon anymore. It’s like a rarity. We never use. We can probably ask almost any highschool student what Word of Mouth is and he will say simply, “Talking. Duh!” then he will go back to his I-pod and cell phone. We are at the time in history where we are using technology to spread the word about the church. No, this is not bad. However, when we tell people about the church by using our own words, the message can have a stronger impact. It can really move in a person. The word of Jesus Christ needs to spread throughout like wildfires. We do this by talking and inviting people to our church events and services. Be a salesman or newspaper boy on a bike, or even a walking bill board for Jesus. Whatever you are spread the word of Jesus like wildfires.
Take a challenge and spread the word like wildfires today!
Invite a FRIEND to church.
Invite a STRANGER to church.
Sometimes that’s what a FRIEND needs.
Sometimes that what a STRANGER needs.
Sometimes, that’s what YOU need!
