Your Toolbox and Your Word
You may have been able to make it to church this past week and if so you may know what I’m talking about! If not, that’s fine too! I challenged the people of the Allerton Christian Church to go out into the community and do something for themselves, for the church, and ultimately for God. I challenged us all including myself to go out and tell someone or more than just one someone about the church and our church family. Because I know sometimes it is difficult for us to do this, I tried to make it a bit simpler by giving everyone tools to get the job done. So to fill up your toolbox I made these simple tools available to be used to assist you in telling people about the church. The first tool for your toolbox was a business card about the church (Screwdriver) which all toolboxes need. Then a magnet (wrench) that can be put on your metal toolbox or even on your refrigerator in your work place. Next, I made available a threefold pamphlet (Hammer) containing information about the church. This can be used to hang around town or to be passed out to people! Lastly was a coupon. This coupon is designed to serve two purposes, to lead people to our church website, and to tell people about the amazing gift of salvation. These tools are essential tools. When a maintenance man goes to his work place and doesn’t have his tools with him that day, he finds his job being very difficult to complete. Same goes for telling people about the word of God in some cases. Sometimes people just blank out and we get nervous and are unsure of what to say. Well by using these tools, we should be able to relay the message we want without even using very many spoken words. It’s simple. So, I encourage us all to get out today and tell someone about God and about the church!
Lastly, Pastor A.J has been telling us to think of a word. A single word that in some way can describe what you want to work on in your life this year, or what your life has been like and you hope to keep it that way for the better! Pastor A.J has been telling us that he plans to call us to ask us what our word is. As for me, I haven’t gotten my call from him yet. But hey, I’m only a phone call away! HAHA! So this word that you pick can simply be taken and posted to your refrigerator, written in your Bible, or even sitting on your work desk as a way of reminding you! For Pastor A.J. his word is “Unmovable.” I encourage you to call him or message him to ask him why he has picked “Unmovable” as his word. Then you may use this time to share your word with him!
God Bless my friends,
Bryan Coffey
PS. Don't forget to call Pastor A.J. to ask him why he chose "Unmovable" to be his word!
